Upstate N.Y. company opens slaughterhouse
The USDA-inspected Adirondack Meat Company Inc. has opened a slaughterhouse to serve farmers in upstate New York’s Champlain Valley. The 7,500-square-foot facility will provide Adirondack-grown, grass-fed organic meat to stores and restaurants within an 85-mile radius.
Adirondack Meat Company is in the Lake George Region of New York State, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., specializing in beef, pork, lamb and goat.
The facility, which will employ 17 people and expects to process as many as 50 animals per day, includes custom processing that uses a consistently applied animal tracking system and advanced technology for inventory control and yield management.
