News Briefs: Kansas City Steak, American Restaurant Concepts, Tim Horton’s execs

The Kansas City Steak Company kicked off its Get Grillin' sweepstakes, which runs between Aug. 7 and Sept. 5, 2013, in partnership with Epicurious Shop, Calphalon Store and Tastebook. At stake is a grand prize package that includes a year's worth of Kansas City Steaks, a Weber Grill, a Calphalon cookware set and a TasteBook gift card. (more)


Restaurant chain names executives

American Restaurant Concepts, operator of Dick's Wings & Grill restaurants, expanded its management team with three appointments.

Mark Janasik was named director of operations. He was formerly a franchise partner for Taqueria del Sol. Sandi Holley was named director of training and quality assurance. She has worked for the company as comptroller and as a franchise owner. Michael Small was named director of business development. He was formerly the vice president for operation for Woody's Bar-B-Q.


Tyson launches Angus promotion

Tyson Fresh Meats Inc. has launched a promotional campaign for its Star Ranch Angus brand, enabling customers who buy $20 or more of Star Ranch Angus steaks to get a free cookbook. An attendant online contest grants consumers a chance to win a Augst steak “prize pack” in exchange for anecdotes about their family’s “small successes.” The promotion runs until mid-October.


Tim Horton’s new executives

Tim Hortons Inc. has hired two new executives: Larry Mench is vice president of U.S. operations and Steve Wuthmann is executive vice president of human resources. Mench’s background includes developme nt and operations roles with Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Arby’s and MCdonald’s.


Vion names new CFO

Vion Food has named Kenaad B. Tewarie as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Tewarie comes to the position from Euretco, the Netherlands’ largest retail-service organization, for whom he is co-responsible for strategy and policy.
